On New Year's morning the God of Wealth arrives from the Southwest. Open your front door during a good hour, stand facing Southwest, and bow three times to welcome him in.
How to welcome him
- Put a plate of mandarin oranges and a red packet on a table by the door.
- Don't sweep, wash hair or pay debts on the first day — you'd push luck out.
- Use a compass app at the doorway to find Southwest.

Li Chun 立春
Old masters say the year truly turns at the first breath of spring — Li Chun. In 2027 it arrives at 9:46 in the morning. From that moment the Fire Goat takes over from the Fire Horse, and the year's luck begins.
What to do
- Light a lamp or open your front door at 9:46 am to welcome the new energy.
- Born a Goat, Ox, Dog or Rat? Visit a temple from Li Chun to pray to the Year Guardian (拜太岁).
- Refresh your home remedies on or after this day, not before.
Babies born before 9:46 am on 4 February belong to the Horse year, not the Goat.

Saturday 6 February 2027. Open the door at a good hour, face the God of Wealth, and greet the year with a clean house and a full table.

Dog-born: the first day of the year bumps your sign. Celebrate gently and skip the 7–9 am welcome.

- 20 FebChap Goh Mei 元宵 — Lanterns, tangyuan and wishes — the last day of New Year.
